Greenwich Blocked Drain
“Don’t be silly, there’s nothing wrong with it” James said. He didn’t realise that he would later be eating his words.
Gwen had noticed that their kitchen sink had been making a strange gulping noise lately and it seemed to be getting worse. She was concerned that the sink wasn’t functioning properly but she found getting James to agree with her, was a difficult task. Her boyfriend had a carefree personality and didn’t often worry about things until it was necessary but Gwen was the opposite.
Later that night, James was busy cleaning up after dinner. He wrung out the dishcloth and turned on the tap, in order to rinse it. Suddenly a loud choking sound escaped the drain and the water level started to rise. “Whoa!” exclaimed James, as he promptly turned the tap off. Gwen entered the room, in response to his yelling. “I think there’s something wrong with the sink,” he said with confusion. Gwen looked over to see the sink was still full of water, even though there was no plug or obstruction. “That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you.” Gwen said smugly.
She was glad that she wasn’t imagining things but wasn’t impressed at the thought of having to get it fixed. “Do you know any good plumbers in Epping?” she asked. James thought for a minute then his face brightened. “I do, actually!” he said. James told Gwen of a company that had been recommended to him by his father. His parents had a plumbing problem and they were ecstatic with their service. He remembered his father saying that they were available for call outs in the local area as well as the suburbs of St Leonards, Wollstonecraft, Waverton, Northwood, Crows Nest, North Sydney and Lower North Shore. Gwen was relieved that there was one less thing that she had to worry about and urged him to contact them.
Ten minutes later, James notified Gwen that he had spoken to the company and that a plumber would be available to visit within 2 hours to look at their blocked drain. All they had to do now was wait.
The couple didn’t have to wait too long as the plumber rolled into their driveway, an hour after their call. Gwen showed the plumber in and led him to the blocked sink.
“Yes, I see,” he said and started to perform a series of tests. Gwen and James sat down together, knowing that their kitchen sink was in good hands.
A short period of time elapsed, when Gwen saw the plumber walk into the lounge. He advised them that there was a serious drain blockage but it had been given a thorough clearing. He had to use to CCTv and water jetter to clear the tree roots from the blocked sewer line “Don’t hesitate to call again if you have any more dramas,” he added, as he made his exit from their Epping home.
