An Emergency Plumbing Situation in Greenwich
Trudy carefully applied her lipstick and took one last look at herself in the mirror. Looks decent enough, she thought. She glanced at her hair, which was styled perfectly and bounced slightly when she walked. She stretched herself back and looked at her watch. She was surprised to see that she had spent the last hour getting ready.
Tonight was the night of Trudy and Gavin’s engagement party. The house was decorated, the tables were set and the caterers were due to arrive any minute. She was glad that everything was ready, so that she could take a moment to relax. She noticed that there was lipstick smeared on her hand so she went to the bathroom to remove it, before it stained something. She turned on the tap, when the water suddenly started bubbling and rising from the bottom of the drain. It gave Trudy and fright and she immediately turned the water off. The water level slowly receded so she attempted to turn the water on again. The bubbling instantly resumed but this time the water rose even higher. Trudy felt herself start to panic and gripped the edge of the vanity to calm herself. I can’t have a clogged sink, during our engagement party, she thought, with horror.
Trudy ran to the next room and pulled out the Greenwich directory. She hadn’t needed to call on a plumber before so she initially didn’t know where to look. She finally came across the category of plumbing and searched for a company that provided emergency assistance. There was one that immediately jumped out at her. She felt rather shaky, as she called the number that was listed. A helpful staff member answered and reassured her that someone would be at her home to help as soon as possible. She then hung up and anxiously waited for the plumber to arrive.
Ten minutes passed and Trudy could feel herself growing more stressed by the minute. Just then, a truck pulled into her driveway and she breathed with relief. She was glad that they had turned up quickly and rushed to the door to let him in.
She pointed out the blocked sink and the plumber immediately proceeded to clear it. The plumber was confident that it would be cleared before the party. Trudy relaxed instantly after hearing those words. The plumber also had a very calm presence, which helped.
It wasn’t long before the plumber informed Trudy that the sink was now fully operational. She felt like hugging him as she was so relieved. She decided to shake his hand instead and thanked him many times. She now had peace of mind that she had the number of a fantastic plumber, should she ever be caught in a plumbing dilemma again.
